“There is no Sleepy Hollow on the Internet, no peaceful spot where contemplativeness can work its restorative magic. There is only the endless, mesmerizing buzz of the urban street.” Nicholas Carr, from The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains (New York: Norton, 2010)

A place that has an impact on me is my old house. It was the house that I grew up in and it is the place that I spent the majority of my childhood. My parents built the house and it was made exactly how we wanted it. I remember being so excited to help pick out everything. We sold the house after having it for 8 years when my parents got a divorce. So it is the place that holds the memories of my family and I where we were able to live under the same roof. It was a big adjustment to not live with both of my parents. When I see the house, even to this day, I feel at ease and happy. It was so peaceful where we lived and I would do anything to be able to live there again because to me, it will always be home.
