“There is no Sleepy Hollow on the Internet, no peaceful spot where contemplativeness can work its restorative magic. There is only the endless, mesmerizing buzz of the urban street.” Nicholas Carr, from The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains (New York: Norton, 2010)

As a baseball player for Thomas More I get to travel around a lot and see different environments than what I'm use to here in Kentucky. So as a pitcher I have to run around the different campuses and see the different scenery. One of the most intriguing places is in Bethany, West Virginia which their baseball field is set back in the woods. Running through these roads in the woods really gave me a peace around me and allowed me to think of the past days work and to give a comfort that it is just a game. But this is eventually lost when I come back to reality and have to sit through a baseball game and hear all of the distractions around me.
