“There is no Sleepy Hollow on the Internet, no peaceful spot where contemplativeness can work its restorative magic. There is only the endless, mesmerizing buzz of the urban street.” Nicholas Carr, from The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains (New York: Norton, 2010)

Putting this class into context of what I've learned from taking this class are many things. Before this class, I have never really thought about aesthetic appreciation before and while I was in nature. It was interesting to hear about all these philosophers and how they help one understand as well as appreciate nature for what it is or can be. Getting a taste of this had definitely made me appreciate nature more and honestly just about every time that either go on a jog outside, look out into the distance outside, or listen to the sounds in nature, I can't help but have some sort of aesthetic appreciation. I would probably not have experienced nor have this aesthetic appreciation that I now have. Most of all, I think this class has help put the little things in nature and outside into perspective. Really makes one appreciate all the little things around them that most of the time doesn't even get noticed.
